CLUB HISTORY

Our History: A Century of Excellence, Tradition, and Community

Founded in 1923, Rockville Links Club has proudly been a cornerstone of the Village of Rockville Centre, rooted in tradition, enriched by community, and defined by a deep love for the game of golf.

Designed by Devereux Emmet, one of the most prolific and respected golf course architects of the early 20th century, 'The Links' originally reflected the golden era of course design—strategic, beautiful, and harmoniously woven into the natural landscape. Over the decades, the course has been carefully refined and modernized, always with respect to its original character and timeless charm.

Throughout the decades, Rockville Links has evolved while preserving its historic character. Through world wars, cultural change, and generations of growth, the club has remained a place where tradition lives on.  Renovations and enhancements have ensured that the course remains competitive and enjoyable for modern play, without losing the timeless spirit that has defined it since its inception.

Generations of Members have passed through our gates—families who have celebrated milestones here, golfers who have honed their skills across our fairways, and friends who have shared unforgettable moments both on and off the course.  Today, Rockville Links is more than a golf club, it is a living legacy—a place where history is honored, tradition is upheld, and membership commitment is unwavering.

Monogram

The Rockville Links Club's new monogram adds a unique level of charm and character to the club's identity. Inspired by the original monogram found on one of the club's first golf scorecards, it honors the rich history and tradition of the club since its founding.

Anvil

For over 100 years, Rockville Links Club has forged its culture from the village that surrounds it. Rockville Centre is named in honor Mordecai "Rock" Smith, a blacksmith by trade, whose family homestead once stood on the land where our golf course and clubhouse now reside. The RLC Anvil symbolizes the strength of our membership and community, serving as an ode to our club's history and resilience in the years ahead.
